The Process

Your first visit:

Choose a Wig Salon that is a licensed wig salon, with a licensed Wig Specialist, like Sylvia's Wig Shop, with a large inventory. When choosing a wig, you should be able to try them on, and if you go to a salon that allows you only to try on 4, this is not the salon you should be visiting. We want you to try on every style and color you like to be able to choose the perfect wig for you. Sometimes you are going through a stressful time because of hair loss due to chemo, radiation, health reason, etc. During this time, you may find it challenging to choose the right wig, so there is no pressure to buy that day, take time to think about it. We will record the information on what you like, color, style, manufacturer, and keep it on file until you decide you are ready for this purchase.

Choosing a wig:

Deciding between a Human Hair Wig or Synthetic: Human Hair wigs will react to the humidity and weather conditions precisely like our hair. They will require daily styling, and the cost is about five times the cost of Synthetic.

We carry the top quality synthetic wigs that look and feel like Human Hair. The only shortcoming the synthetic wigs have is their sensitivity to extreme heat. Care should be taken while cooking; the blast of heat from an oven can damage your wig very quickly, as fireplace, heaters, and steam from boiling water. Shorter wigs will last longer than the long wigs as the constant rubbing of the fiber against collars, shoulders, and the back of chairs will wear the fiber down over time.

Available now is the new Heat Friendly fiber. This means you can use a curling iron or flat iron on them. This does not mean they cannot become damaged from heat while cooking; it just gives you styling options you may not have with the regular Synthetics.

Choosing a wig salon:

It is challenging to choose a wig from a catalog or picture on the Internet. You can not tell what the actual colors are as well if the style and length are right for you. Wigs like clothes look different off than on; this is why it is essential to go to a Wig Salon so you can see the true colors and exactly what length and styles will work for you. We have a large inventory, and if we do not have the style or color you are looking for, we can order it. I will trim and customize your wig for free when you purchase the wig.

Caring for your wig:

Synthetic wigs can be washed using a synthetic wig shampoo in lukewarm water. Shampoos for our Bio Hair should not be used on our wigs. When washing, pay close attention to the areas around the face which may become soiled with makeup. We sell all the products needed to clean and condition your wig as well as styling products.
